Overview
The Corporate Counsel will provide strategic legal guidance across all aspects of construction law. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, this role supports project teams, executive leadership, and administrative departments to ensure legal compliance, risk mitigation, and dispute management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction-related legal matters and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and negotiate construction contracts, subcontracts, and vendor agreements for large-scale vertical construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and industry standards.
- Review construction bid documents and advise business development and estimating teams on material terms, insurance requirements, and conditions impacting bid submissions.
- Collaborate with business development, preconstruction, procurement, and project teams to align contracts with the organization's contracting philosophy and risk tolerance.
- Advise project teams on contract terms during project planning and kickoff meetings, including conducting contract page turn reviews.
- Develop and deliver training on construction law and contract interpretation to diverse audiences.
- Manage disputes, claims, and project-level risks aiming to resolve issues at the lowest possible level.
- Maintain corporate governance documentation and support entity filings and licenses.
- Advise leadership on legal implications of business decisions and regulatory changes.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Minimum of 10 years of legal experience, including drafting and negotiating construction contracts.
- Experience representing or working with general contractors or construction management firms is preferred.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% to office locations and project sites.
- Membership in the State Bar as an attorney qualified to practice law in one or more relevant states, or ability to obtain such membership as in-house counsel.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $175,000 to $200,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
