Counsel, Capital Markets

Overview

This role offers the opportunity to provide strategic legal counsel to support the growth of revenue-generating capital markets businesses focused on digital assets in the US. The position involves advising on market making, OTC, derivatives, capital markets, and prime brokerage activities within a rapidly evolving regulatory and business environment.

Responsibilities

• Advise business development and trading teams on customer transactions, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements related to core business activities.
• Apply strong knowledge of capital markets, derivatives, equities, and prime brokerage to support legal and commercial needs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Product, Markets, Risk, Operations, and Compliance to support new product development and assess legal complexities.
• Lead legal-commercial negotiations and draft agreements related to OTC trading, liquidity provision, derivatives documentation, and other trading agreements.
• Provide general legal support to the Markets and Products Legal team.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• 3-5 years of experience at a top-tier law firm specializing in financial services and/or cryptocurrency.
• Demonstrated experience in capital markets, equities, derivatives, and prime brokerage.
• Strong self-motivation, attention to detail, and a client-focused approach to legal and business issues.
• Ability to quickly learn new areas of law and business with a commercial mindset.
• Experience working in a high-performance, dynamic, and high-growth environment is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $162,000 - $205,000 (New York City).
• Eligibility for performance-linked bonuses, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
• Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including location, experience, qualifications, and skillset.
