Overview

A leading organization in the Finance & Insurance sector is seeking a Counsel Commercial to provide business-aligned legal guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. This role involves partnering with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex legal issues into practical recommendations. The position supports responsible execution, improved decision-making, and sustainable growth within a regulated financial services environment.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, and execute tailored commercial agreements
• Develop innovative agreement frameworks balancing risk and agility
• Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve complex issues and close deals
• Create scalable playbooks and risk-mitigation strategies
• Identify and address legal issues beyond core expertise

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree with an active U.S. state legal license
• Minimum of 5 years transactional legal experience in-house or at a leading law firm
• Expertise drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, particularly in fintech and payments
• Experience working within regulated financial services environments
• Proven ability to manage a high-volume deal pipeline efficiently
• Familiarity with generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency and output quality

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Knowledge of risk-mitigation strategies and business development frameworks
• Experience with contract management and compliance software
• Understanding of regulatory change management and data analytics tools for legal insights
• Proficiency with collaboration tools for cross-functional teamwork

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary range: $183,855 – $216,300
