Overview
This Counsel role provides a full range of legal advice and services, handling moderately complex to complex matters where analysis requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
The position manages investigations and litigation on behalf of the organization, including internal and government investigations. The role also supports proactive risk-mitigation efforts and provides independent judgment in investigation and litigation decisions, with modest to minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of internal investigations and government investigations
- Proactively identify opportunities to mitigate risk
- Manage complex litigation matters
- Collaborate with internal clients and outside counsel on litigation strategy and case matters
- Exercise independent judgment and decision-making on investigation and litigation issues
- Take full ownership of legal matters with modest to minimal supervision
- Perform sophisticated legal analysis
- Clearly communicate legal analysis and strategy to business partners and other stakeholders
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school
- Active and licensed membership in a state bar association
- At least 5 years of experience managing investigations or complex litigation
- Ability to organize and successfully manage a number of matters simultaneously
- Strong ability to communicate complex legal issues to various stakeholders
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and in team settings
Preferred Qualifications
- Investigations or litigation experience in the managed care space
- Understanding of e-discovery and experience with large-scale discovery
- Understanding of Medicare laws and regulations and federal health care fraud laws and statutes (False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, etc.)
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $138,900 - $191,000 per year
- Bonus incentive plan eligibility: This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan, based on company and/or individual performance.

Location
- Preference for candidates located in Louisville, KY or Chicago, IL
- Remote/work at home location acceptable for qualified candidates
- Workstyle: hybrid or fully remote
- Travel: some travel may be required
