Overview

This role supports an AI-native private banking organization serving business owners. The work spans commercial contracting, product and regulatory matters, compliance and licensing, disputes and recovery, and general corporate governance. The position also involves partnering cross-functionally to gather facts, respond to requests quickly, and help streamline the legal function with improved templates, playbooks, processes, and tools, including responsible use of AI for legal work.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and revise commercial agreements, including NDAs, vendor agreements, customer contracts, and other day-to-day agreements.
  • Support contract negotiations by preparing drafts and redlines, researching issues, and working with senior Legal team members to resolve open points.
  • Assist with product and regulatory matters, including:
    • Researching legal requirements
    • Reviewing product materials and disclosures
    • Helping prepare terms, policies, notices, and other customer-facing materials
  • Research federal and state laws and regulations affecting the organization, and translate findings into clear, practical guidance for the Legal & Compliance team and business partners.
  • Support regulatory and licensing work, including preparing filings, gathering information, maintaining records, and helping respond to requests from regulators, banks, and other partners.
  • Assist with disputes, litigation, collections, and recovery matters, including researching claims, organizing records, preparing correspondence, and coordinating with internal teams and outside counsel.
  • Maintain corporate records and support governance and other general corporate matters.
  • Partner with teams across the organization to gather facts, understand business needs, and help the Legal team respond quickly and effectively.
  • Build and improve legal templates, playbooks, processes, and tools to increase Legal efficiency.
  • Use AI and other technology as part of everyday legal practice and help identify opportunities to automate routine legal work.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and an active bar license, or eligibility to become admitted promptly.
  • 0–2 years of legal experience (law firm, in-house, government, judicial clerkship, and other relevant experience considered).
  • Strong academic, legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, thoughtful work.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Good judgment, including knowing when to work independently versus when to ask for help.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with lawyers and non-lawyers across the organization.
  • Interest in contracts and commercial work, with a desire to build drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Interest in fintech, financial services, technology, or startups (prior experience helpful, but not required).
  • Curiosity about AI and willingness to learn how to use it responsibly for research, drafting, analysis, and efficiency.
  • Willingness to take on a broad range of assignments across an in-house legal practice.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Genuine excitement about the opportunity to grow as a lawyer while supporting the organization’s build.
