Overview

This role is an independent, remote position focused on making legal determinations for complex family-based immigration matters. You will independently review routed cases, answer eligibility questions, advise clients on legal issues in their filings, and help keep client-facing tools and marketing content compliant with unauthorized-practice-of-law rules.

Responsibilities

Case-Level Legal Review

  • Review complex family-based immigration cases involving criminal records, NOIDs, denials, waivers, marital-status issues, IMBRA and Adam Walsh Act flags, and consular refusals
  • Classify RFEs and advise on substantive responses that a Petition Support team prepares
  • Advise whether an appeal or motion should be filed and provide its legal basis
  • Identify when a case needs outside counsel or Philippine counsel and coordinate referrals

Eligibility Determinations for Sales

  • Make eligibility determinations on edge cases before a client signs up, including income sufficiency, joint sponsors and asset options
  • Design intake pre-screen questions for the sales team to ensure complex cases are caught early
  • Approve a library of published-rule answers the sales team can quote word for word

Compliance Review

  • Review scripts, templates, ads, AI-generated content, and client-facing tools against unauthorized-practice-of-law rules before they go live
  • Review sales calls monthly and share written observations
  • Review service agreements and disclaimers, and approve customized agreements requested by clients
  • Advise on restricted states, new services, and future market expansion

Training and Advisory

  • Serve as the final escalation point for questions that require legal interpretation
  • Brief service, sales, and QA teams monthly on recurring issues and compliant responses
  • Attend executive meetings to advise on legal standards and compliance risks, and provide recommendations to the CEO in writing

Qualifications

  • Active license in good standing with the bar of any US state, with no public disciplinary history
  • 3-5+ years of experience in US immigration law, with a focus on family-based immigration and consular processing
  • Strong knowledge of inadmissibility grounds, waivers, and motions and appeals practice
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to explain legal concepts clearly to non-legal audiences
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills with sound judgment and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and remotely across multiple time zones
  • Full alignment with the organization’s core cultural values

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a high-volume immigration practice, legal services company, or similar fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with Philippine civil documents and Philippine family law as it relates to US immigration
  • Experience in compliance, risk management, or advising non-law-firm businesses
  • Comfort using legal technology, case management systems, and AI tools
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as operations, sales, and customer support
