General Counsel

Overview

A leading organization in the Information Technology sector is seeking a General Counsel to provide business-aligned legal guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. This role involves partnering with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex legal issues into practical recommendations. The position offers the opportunity to enhance responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a technology-driven environment.

Location: Remote (US-based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $150,000 – $200,000 annually

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute regulatory and legal strategies to strengthen market relationships
• Lead competitive and enforcement matters to defend the organization's interests for optimal market outcomes
• Build the legal framework for innovative data products within complex regulatory landscapes
• Utilize legal and regulatory expertise to identify growth opportunities and streamline deal processes
• Oversee the full legal scope for a fast-growing organization in collaboration with the Head of Legal
• Collaborate directly with the CEO and board on strategic decisions influenced by legal and regulatory contexts

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant experience in law firms and fast-paced in-house roles
• Significant in-house experience managing litigations and disputes in senior legal roles at high-growth companies
• Deep healthcare experience or expertise in another heavily regulated industry such as financial services or insurance
• Strong problem-solving skills across legal domains, with the ability to resolve unfamiliar issues independently
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Commercially oriented, integrating legal expertise into business strategies
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree and membership in at least one U.S. state bar

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Experience with regulatory compliance tools, legal research software, and contract management platforms
• Knowledge of dispute resolution techniques and corporate governance
• Familiarity with intellectual property law, healthcare regulations, and data privacy laws
• Experience with commercial agreements and business analytics tools for legal metrics
