Overview
The Immigration Counsel will serve as the in-house immigration legal advisor, responsible for managing company immigration operations in compliance with federal and state laws and administrative policies. This role involves providing expert guidance on all immigration-related activities, including visa caseloads, immigration law, document retention, and employee communications. The counsel will draft key documents, assist with filing immigration paperwork, present clear recommendations, and ensure legal compliance. Responsibilities include preparing immigration cases for various temporary work visas and green cards, researching immigration matters, and continuously monitoring legal and policy developments to minimize business risk.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and draft applications and petitions for employment-based immigration cases, including PERM, H-1B, L-1, Blanket L, and F visa matters.
- Build strong relationships and partner with cross-functional teams such as recruiting and HR to execute immigration sponsorship assessments internally.
- Advise the business and affected employees on employment-based immigration matters and visa applications.
- Respond to USCIS and Department of Labor requests for additional information.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of immigration laws, regulations, and policies.
- Consult with management and leadership to assess impacts on business practices, operational costs, and efficiencies.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for all stages of the immigration process, including internal case management.
- Analyze cases, determine strategies, and prepare employees for interviews, hearings, and trials.
- Communicate regularly with employees during intake and throughout active cases.
- Track and maintain organized case files using a Case Management Platform, including forms management.
- Complete all responsibilities outlined in annual performance reviews and goal setting.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Current bar membership in good standing in any U.S. state or the District of Columbia.
- Minimum of 6 years of immigration law experience, preferably with in-house experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of U.S. immigration laws and regulations.
- Significant experience counseling stakeholders on immigration law matters.
- Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Outlook.
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills; able to present information thoughtfully and share information openly.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

- Ability to remain stationary for prolonged periods, including standing or sitting.

Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: $127,000 to $142,000 per year, determined by experience, education, skills, certifications, and business needs.
- Eligible for discretionary bonus consideration.
