Legal Counsel

Overview

This is a remote, fixed contract role with no office provided. The organization is located off-shore.

The employer is an early-stage startup (Seed Completed) operating in Crypto / AI, focused on monetizing scientific research, datasets, and other IP through marketplaces tailored to AI companies seeking quality data for training.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, analyze, and negotiate various contracts.
• Understand how different jurisdictions work, including associated risks and benefits.
• Weigh legal considerations against commercial priorities.
• Negotiate with counterparties and verify their documentation.
• Remain mobile and responsive across tasks, including unconventional and non-linear work in an early-stage environment.
• Act as a self-starter without deferring tasks to others.

Requirements

• Experience managing multiple legal and administrative processes in an early-stage startup environment from start to finish.
• Ability to operate effectively in a chaotic, unpredictable, non-linear environment with unconventional tasks and problems.
• Strong self-starting, independent execution in a dynamic crypto and AI context.
• Thorough understanding of English law and ability to apply it to global contracts between various jurisdictions.
• Strong communication skills; Perfect English is a must.
• Experience working with a team in a non-corporate environment (standard corporate processes are not in place).

Preferred Qualifications

• 5+ years of demonstrated legal experience in tech business development (tech sales, presales marketing, fundraising) or operations supporting these activities.
• Strong passion for new technologies, particularly crypto and AI.
