Overview
This role involves serving as Product & Privacy Counsel for a leading AI video platform used by a majority of Fortune 100 companies. The organization is headquartered in London with teams across Europe and the US. Following a recent $200 million Series E funding round, the valuation stands at $4 billion with total funding exceeding $530 million from top-tier investors.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and R&D teams throughout the product lifecycle to identify and mitigate legal risks related to AI, intellectual property, privacy, security, open source, and marketing.
- Advise Go-To-Market and Business Operations teams on product positioning, licensing models, and regulatory compliance to support commercialization.
- Monitor and interpret evolving laws concerning AI, privacy, IP, and competition to ensure proactive compliance and alignment with business objectives.
- Develop and maintain scalable legal processes, playbooks, and guidance to ensure consistent legal input across teams.
- Assist in creating and managing privacy, security, and AI governance frameworks and audits.
- Provide independent, pragmatic, and business-oriented legal advice aligned with the organization's risk appetite and goals.
Requirements
- Law degree and qualification to practice in-house in a relevant jurisdiction.
- Minimum of 7 years post-qualification experience, including at least 5 years advising on SaaS product legal matters; prior experience with generative AI is preferred.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and associated legal issues such as intellectual property, privacy, and algorithmic accountability.
- In-depth knowledge of GDPR and other major privacy frameworks; experience with biometric data processing or automated decision-making is a plus.
- Ability to work effectively with technical teams and translate legal risks into clear, actionable guidance.
- Excellent written communication skills, capable of drafting clear and concise messages for cross-functional audiences.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
