Public Sector Attorney - Vice President, Assistant General Counsel

Overview

A leading organization in the Finance & Insurance sector is seeking a Public Sector Attorney to serve as Vice President Assistant General Counsel. This role involves delivering legal outcomes for public sector clients, particularly in Wholesale Payments, and collaborating across teams to manage priorities. The position offers opportunities for visibility, professional growth, and significant impact.

Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate various legal documents for Public Sector clients within Wholesale Payments
• Provide legal advice on transaction structures and relevant regulatory matters
• Act as product counsel for new payment products targeting Public Sector customers
• Ensure all customer interaction documentation is clear and compliant with applicable laws
• Assess and advise on the applicability of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)

Requirements

• Licensed attorney with at least 5 years of experience in a law firm, financial institution, or judicial clerkship
• Expertise in Public Sector contracts, especially federal contracting including FAR and NAFI-based contracts
• Strong negotiation skills and effective communication abilities for both internal teams and external stakeholders
• In-depth knowledge of the False Claims Act
• Excellent organizational and time management skills

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Familiarity with SAM.gov, UCC Articles 4 and 4A
• Experience with wholesale payments products and services
• Understanding of federal agency contracting processes
• Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal professionals
• Proficiency with contract negotiation tools, regulatory compliance software, transaction management systems, and project management tools

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual salary range: $150,000 – $200,000
