Remote Legal Research Attorney – $170/hr

Overview

A contract opportunity is available for a Senior Law Librarian and Research Attorney. This role involves connecting elite creative and technical talent with leading AI research labs, focusing on legal research to support AI evaluation benchmarks.

Responsibilities

• Draft sophisticated legal research questions addressing complex firm-level inquiries.
• Design issues requiring multi-jurisdictional analysis, resolution of conflicting authorities, and deep synthesis of legal precedents.
• Ensure all research questions are based on identifiable, authoritative legal sources.
• Maintain clarity, realism, and practical scope in research questions.
• Collaborate with AI research teams to help shape AI evaluation benchmarks.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines and contribute to improving AI model performance.

Requirements

• Minimum of 8 years experience as a law librarian, research attorney, or senior legal research specialist.
• Extensive experience managing complex or escalated legal research requests.
• Strong understanding of legal research methodologies.
• Exceptional skills in issue framing and legal writing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience training associates on legal research techniques.
• Familiarity with AI tools applied to legal research.
• Prior experience with dataset annotation or benchmark development.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate: $150–$170
