Senior Counsel, Product

Overview

A healthcare technology organization is seeking a Senior Counsel, Product to serve as a key strategic partner to the Research & Development teams during a pivotal growth phase. This role focuses on providing legal and regulatory guidance related to health laws impacting innovative technology products, particularly in mental health care. The position involves close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Operations, and Compliance teams to support innovation and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Act as an embedded regulatory advisor to Engineering, Product, and Operations teams, offering real-time guidance on healthcare delivery technology, artificial intelligence, and clinical modalities.
• Collaborate with the Compliance team on policy development, audit responses, and remediation strategies, providing legal interpretation of healthcare regulations.
• Translate complex healthcare regulations into practical, actionable guidance and tools for non-legal stakeholders.
• Anticipate regulatory challenges and proactively develop solutions that balance business objectives with compliance requirements.
• Build strong cross-functional relationships to position regulatory guidance as a business enabler.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years post-bar admission legal experience with significant expertise in healthcare regulatory law, especially in health technology and product counseling.
• Deep understanding of multi-state healthcare regulations within evolving regulatory environments.
• Experience advising Engineering, Product, Operations, and/or Compliance teams in a healthcare technology setting.
• Proven ability to simplify complex healthcare regulatory requirements into clear guidance for non-legal teams.
• Demonstrated skill in balancing compliance obligations with business goals in fast-paced organizations.
• Strong communication skills and political acumen to manage competing priorities and foster effective partnerships.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing; ability to register as New York in-house counsel is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in mental health care or related healthcare technology sectors.
• Familiarity with regulations affecting artificial intelligence applications in healthcare.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary range: $179,200 - $280,000, dependent on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
