Senior Lawyer

Overview

This role is for a Senior Lawyer supporting legal expansion across multiple jurisdictions and product-related legal challenges, including building and strengthening a stand-alone legal function.

Location is either:

• Remote in Spain, or
• Hybrid in Estonia

Compensation:

• Up to 48,000 EUR gross annual, based on experience and seniority.

Responsibilities

• Define legal requirements for products as they develop, strengthening existing frameworks and supporting expansion into new markets.
• Advise operational teams on how to service clients from markets/products within your assigned internal portfolio.
• Monitor relevant upcoming regulatory and legal developments beyond the product scope.
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including partnership agreements, policies, and vendor agreements.
• Support AML and GDPR teams by interpreting relevant guidance as needed, and help implement and improve internal processes and risk management procedures.
• Contribute to establishing legal processes such as contract management, compliance tracking, and due diligence procedures.
• Partner with professionals across Operations, Growth, Product, and Engineering teams, and learn how a startup operates.

Requirements

• 5+ years of legal expertise in areas relevant to the industry, such as accounting, international taxation, corporate law, and financial partnerships.
• Ability to work with international regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements on a global scale.
• Demonstrated interest in leading projects to identify and assess legal risks and create strategies/processes to mitigate them.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Strong interest in global expansion to new markets, including assessing and mitigating associated risks and establishing compliant operating processes.
• Experience working in a law firm, startup, or financial services industry.
• Ability to take ownership of problems even when you do not immediately have the answer, and drive resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience related to corporate and tax law, or having served as an advisor for startups.
• Spanish legal experience (not required, but a strong advantage).
