Overview

This role supports a client experience platform designed for appointment-based, self-care businesses such as salons, spas, medspas, and barbershops. The platform aims to help these businesses thrive by providing modern, user-friendly technology tailored to their unique needs.

The Senior Legal Specialist position is central to the Legal team's support of the business. This role acts as the first point of contact for legal, compliance, and operational inquiries, helping teams navigate ambiguity, identify risks, and move work forward efficiently. It combines legal operations, contract management, compliance, and corporate matters, partnering with various departments including Sales, Customer Experience, Product, Payments, Finance, and Operations.

The role also involves pioneering the use of AI tools within Legal to build scalable, efficient workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the initial contact for inbound legal, compliance, and operational requests across the business.
  • Gather facts, identify issues and risks, and provide preliminary guidance using established playbooks and frameworks.
  • Escalate matters appropriately, providing attorneys with context, analysis, recommendations, and proposed next steps.
  • Draft, review, and manage a broad range of routine commercial agreements such as NDAs, vendor and customer contracts, and order forms, overseeing signature and renewal processes.
  • Support and continuously improve Legal intake, triage, prioritization, and workflow management.
  • Build and maintain Legal systems, knowledge resources, playbooks, templates, and self-service tools, including contract lifecycle management (CLM), e-signature platforms, and AI-assisted review and intake tools.
  • Assist with corporate, governance, and related administrative matters as needed.
  • Identify recurring questions, bottlenecks, and friction points, developing scalable solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and business stakeholders to support organizational growth efficiently.
  • Pilot, evaluate, and implement AI tools across Legal, developing prompts, workflows, and guardrails to enhance speed and quality while maintaining human oversight.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in legal operations, contract management, corporate paralegal, compliance, or a comparable business-facing legal role.
  • Proven ability to serve as a trusted resource to business stakeholders and help navigate complex or ambiguous situations.
  • Strong legal judgment to identify issues, assess risk, and determine when escalation is necessary.
  • Comfortable reviewing and managing common commercial agreements such as NDAs, vendor contracts, and order forms.
  • Skilled at issue spotting and triage, able to gather incomplete information and translate vague requests into actionable steps.
  • Strong process orientation with experience improving workflows, documentation, and systems.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and drive work to completion without constant oversight.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex issues clearly to non-legal audiences.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools for contract review, drafting, research, or workflow automation, with a genuine curiosity about applying emerging technology to legal work.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity, rapid context switching, and supporting a wide range of subject matters in a fast-growing company.
  • Ability to build trust and credibility across functions and influence outcomes without formal authority.
