Overview

This role is for a Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Practical Law – Corporate (Global) in the United States.

The organization is seeking an experienced Corporate and M&A lawyer with cross-border expertise to join the Practical Law Corporate and M&A team. In this position, you will use your specialist legal knowledge to create and maintain legal know-how content and support the development of AI-powered legal solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Research, write, and maintain clear, current, and practical legal content aligned with market practice, customer needs, and business objectives.
  • Review and edit content written by others, including colleagues and external expert contributors.
  • Monitor legal, practice, and market developments to ensure content remains accurate, relevant, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Apply legal expertise to support the development of customer-focused AI-powered legal solutions.
  • Use legal expertise and editorial skills to support the development and application of internal AI editorial tools.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with lawyers and industry groups to ensure content reflects current market practice.
  • Support other functions as needed, collaborating with product management, sales, marketing, and technology.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor and a current license to practice law in at least one US jurisdiction.
  • At least 8 years’ experience working as a Corporate and M&A lawyer in a law firm or in-house.
  • Extensive experience advising companies on Corporate law for cross-border matters, including experience with:
    • M&A (drafting and negotiating merger agreements, stock/asset purchase agreements, financing, and ancillary documents) involving one or more non-US entities;
    • Company formation and governance, particularly of non-US subsidiaries;
    • Joint ventures; and
    • Investment matters.
  • Strong writing skills with a passion for accurately, concisely, and plainly written legal practice content.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively independently and in multi-jurisdictional teams.
  • Strong technical skills, including the ability to use various tools (including generative AI technologies) to improve productivity and accuracy.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work on diverse projects and tasks within generative AI and new/emerging technologies.
  • A curious mindset about the intersection of AI and legal practice, with openness to change.
  • Experience using AI tools in legal work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with differences in legal practice in non-US jurisdictions, particularly Latin America.

Additional Requirements (Interview Process)

  • Candidates selected for a second interview will be required to submit a writing sample.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range (US)

For eligible US locations, the base compensation range for this role is $119,700 USD - $222,300 USD.

Base pay is set within the range based on factors including knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration for internal equity.

This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
