Sr. Liability Trial Attorney - Texas

Overview

The organization is seeking multiple experienced Trial Attorneys to join its Staff Legal team in Texas. These roles may be based in the Addison, Texas office or remotely from the Houston area.

This position involves representing commercial insureds of a leading global insurance carrier and managing moderate to high-exposure General Liability cases from investigation through trial. Responsibilities include handling all phases of insurance defense litigation, including legal analysis, pleadings, discovery, hearings, trials, settlement strategy, and post-trial activities.

• Develop and execute trial and resolution strategies
• Represent clients throughout litigation proceedings
• Work independently and maintain high ethical standards
• Mentor and support others as needed

Requirements

• Juris Doctor
• 7 or more years of litigation experience
• Active member of the Texas State Bar in good standing
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe, Lexis, or Westlaw
• Knowledge of insurance defense litigation, claims, and the insurance industry

Preferred Qualifications

• Insurance defense or general commercial litigation experience, including matters such as:
  • Wrongful death
  • Commercial motor vehicle torts
  • Products liability
  • Premises liability
  • Personal injury
• Relevant first-chair jury trial experience
• Strong legal analysis, negotiation, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage caseloads, budgets, exposure analysis, billables, and diary review independently
• Collaborative approach, with ability to mentor, lead, and support the broader staff counsel function

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay is based on role, location, skills, and experience, following local laws.
• Short-term incentive bonus eligibility: 15%
• Pay range (Hourly rate or Salary range): $150,000.00 - $180,000.00
