Staff Attorney

Overview

This organization is seeking a Staff Attorney to support clients with trademark-focused legal services. The role involves working closely with clients to provide strategic guidance and help make informed legal decisions, with an emphasis on intellectual property law and improving access to legal services.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and review trademark searches and provide strategic advice and risk analyses.
• Advise clients on the registrability and strength of their marks.
• File a high volume of trademark applications with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
• Respond to Office actions.
• Assist senior trademark attorneys with their caseloads.
• Support increased access to legal services by helping small businesses register trademarks and focusing more time on legal advice than administrative tasks.
• Contribute to organizational growth efforts as services expand.

Requirements

• License to practice law in Arizona or Washington DC
• 0–5 years of legal experience
• Experience in intellectual property law
• Passion for professional ethics
• Strong organizational skills and ability to clearly explain legal concepts to non-attorneys and clients
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong computer skills
• Proactive, self-motivated mindset with ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Patent bar license or license-eligible
