Associate Counsel - Bronx, NY (Remote)
Overview
An opportunity is available for an Associate Counsel based in Bronx, NY (remote) to join a leading organization in the Finance & Insurance sector. This role focuses on providing business-aligned legal guidance related to governance, compliance, and operational risk management. The position involves partnering with leadership, compliance teams, and cross-functional groups to translate complex legal issues into practical recommendations that support responsible execution, improved decision-making, and sustainable growth within a regulated financial services environment.
Location: Remote (US-based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $118,900 – $186,550 annually
Responsibilities
- Research applicable laws and prepare legal briefs and opinions
- Provide liability and damages opinions for the Claims Department
- Draft and manage pleadings, motions, and discovery documents
- Defend cases through trials or dispositive hearings
- Conduct depositions and examinations under oath
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree
- Admission to the New York Bar and maintenance of good standing license, including CLE requirements
- 2 to 6+ years of experience in insurance defense and/or personal injury litigation
- Ability to travel for trials and meetings as needed
- Excellent written communication skills for clear documentation
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with civil litigation and insurance defense-related litigation
- Familiarity with legal research tools, practice management software, and discovery management systems
