Commercial Litigation Attorneys

Overview

This role is for experienced litigation attorneys (1–3 years of experience) to support the commercial law practice group. Work is directed by the Practice Group Leader and/or Partners, preparing matters for hearing, trial, arbitration, or mediation. Hybrid and fully remote opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

• Prepare matters for hearing, trial, arbitration, or mediation under the direction of the Practice Group Leader and/or Partners.
• Draft correspondence, pleadings, opinion letters, and other legal documents.
• Communicate with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
• Draft and argue motions.
• Coordinate and communicate with parties outside the organization, including clients, courts, opposing and co-counsel, vendors, attorneys, secretaries, paralegals, case assistants, managers, and other staff.

Requirements

• Litigation experience involving one or more of the following:
  • Breach of commercial loans and security agreements
  • Secured transactions and equipment leasing
  • Negotiable instruments
  • Replevin actions
  • Judgment enforcement
  • Foreclosures
• Bankruptcy and transactional experience concerning the same areas of law is beneficial but not essential.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills and strong command of the English language.
• Ability to maintain current knowledge of Local Rules, Rules of Civil Procedure, FRCP, and other applicable codes and regulations.
• Eligible to be licensed and admitted to practice in at least one of the following jurisdictions: Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, or Missouri.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bankruptcy and transactional experience related to the litigation subject areas listed above (beneficial but not required).

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary pay ranges (national base salary ranges):
  • Associates (approximately 1–6+ years): $100,000–$165,000
  • Senior Counsel/Of Counsel (approximately 5 years or more): $140,000–$215,000
  • Partners (approximately 7 years or more): $190,000–$275,000+
• Actual compensation is tailored to the individual and may vary based on experience, skills, practice area, business generation, work arrangement, and geographic market.
• Eligibility for both discretionary and performance-based bonuses.
• Student loan repayment assistance.

Pay Range: USD $100,000.00 - USD $275,000.00 /Yr.

Location

Chicago office, with hybrid or fully remote opportunities available.
