Complex Litigation Attorney - Special Investigations Unit (Remote, NY Metro Area)

Overview

A leading organization in the Finance & Insurance sector is seeking a Complex Litigation Attorney to join their Special Investigations Unit. This remote role, based in the NY Metro Area, involves supporting efforts to address fraudulent claims and managing complex litigation cases within a regulated financial services environment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Claims/Special Investigation Unit to investigate and address fraudulent claims
• Research, prepare, file, and litigate fraud cases, including affirmative claims such as RICO
• Develop litigation strategies and conduct negotiations on complex legal matters
• Review case files and strategize resolutions
• Draft legal documents including motions and briefs
• Conduct depositions and examinations under oath
• Attend legal proceedings and coordinate with expert witnesses

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree
• Active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
• Minimum of 7 years of legal experience, with a focus on litigation
• Experience with federal court litigation
• Ability to manage complex legal cases effectively
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal documentation processes
• Demonstrated discretion and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially

Preferred Qualifications

• Admission to federal court
• Experience in the insurance industry
• Familiarity with litigation management software
• Knowledge of legal research databases such as Westlaw or LexisNexis
• Experience with case management systems and electronic discovery tools (e.g., Relativity)

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual salary range: $130,000 – $177,000
• Remote work flexibility with occasional required in-person appearances
