Overview
This role owns the data layer that makes complex litigation possible. Responsibilities cover technical data operations underpinning the full lifecycle on the platform, from collection and processing through production and quality control. You will partner with Client Services pods and collaborate with Product and Engineering to ensure data integrity at every stage.
Responsibilities
- Own data operations: Manage ingestion, processing, and production workflows across active cases; validate outputs before they reach the client.
- Own quality control: Apply systematic QC standards across all data outputs; document findings and resolve issues before delivery to the client or pod.
- Resolve complex data issues: Diagnose and resolve collection anomalies, processing failures, metadata errors, and production format disputes.
- Advise on data strategy: Help clients structure data workflows, processing specifications, and review protocols to improve efficiency and defensibility.
- Serve as the pod liaison: Receive data handoffs from Client Services pods, document chain of custody, ensure requirements are captured before work begins, manage intake through a dedicated queue, and communicate proactively about capacity and timelines.
- Partner with Engineering and Product: Surface recurring data-layer issues, document edge cases, and contribute to platform improvement through product testing and timely feedback.
- Build documentation: Create and maintain processing guides, QC checklists, and workflow standards.
Requirements
- EDRM depth: Own the full lifecycle, from collection through production, on complex commercial cases with high data volumes.
- Quality discipline: Systematic, documented QC process that does not rely on memory.
- Platform fluency: Hands-on experience with Relativity, Everlaw, Nuix, or comparable platforms; ability to troubleshoot, not just operate.
- Metadata and data structure knowledge: Understanding of file formats, processing parameters, load file specifications, and the importance of metadata integrity.
- Cross-functional communication: Ability to explain data issues to attorneys and technical root causes to engineers.
- Experience and qualifications:
- 3+ years in eDiscovery, litigation support, or a data-focused legal role.
- Proficiency with at least one major eDiscovery platform; Relativity RCA or equivalent preferred.
- Comfort working with metadata, large datasets, and technically complex data requests.
