Overview

This role involves serving as Lead Counsel for a fast-growing technology company specializing in a client experience platform for appointment-based, self-care businesses such as salons, spas, medspas, and barbershops. The position reports to the General Counsel and requires autonomous management of commercial deals, regulatory and product legal questions related to operating a payments platform in a regulated market, and handling everyday legal needs.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the dedicated legal partner to various product and business teams, providing day-to-day legal counsel on high-impact, fast-moving initiatives.
  • Advise on a broad range of legal matters including payments and FinTech, healthcare/MedSpa compliance, consumer protection, marketing, privacy, data governance, intellectual property, and dispute resolution.
  • Lead drafting, review, negotiation, and management of commercial agreements such as strategic partnerships, payments deals, customer contracts, and renewals.
  • Own and improve contract templates, playbooks, and legal processes to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales and Go-To-Market teams to balance legal risk with business velocity and enable faster deal execution.
  • Work with Legal Operations to build scalable workflows, automate repeatable tasks, and continuously improve legal support.
  • Participate in a lean, collaborative legal team with broad ownership and direct business impact.

Requirements

  • 6 to 11 years of combined law firm and in-house legal experience, ideally including SaaS, payments/FinTech, or other regulated technology sectors.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and an active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
  • Proven ability to operate independently, manage matters end to end, and make sound judgment calls with limited oversight.
  • Strong expertise in technology and commercial contracting with the ability to balance risk and speed.
  • Comfort handling a wide range of legal issues including commercial, regulatory, privacy, corporate, and employment matters.
  • Practical, solutions-oriented communication style that simplifies complex issues for non-lawyers.
  • Ability to perform well in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with payments or FinTech regulation, including money movement and processor or card-network rules.
  • Familiarity with healthcare, wellness, or other regulated consumer industries.
  • Privacy law experience beyond contract-level data terms, including CCPA/CPRA and GDPR.
  • Experience as an early or sole in-house attorney at a high-growth company.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Anticipated U.S. base salary range: $178,200 - $243,600 per year.
  • Eligibility for variable compensation programs.
  • 401(k) match.
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage.
  • Flexible vacation policy.
  • Fully remote work with a monthly work-from-home stipend.
  • Family planning resources and specialized support programs.
  • Equity participation opportunities.
  • Learning and development programs to explore relevant market businesses.

Location

  • Fully remote within the United States.
