Legal Clerk

Overview

• Fully Remote
• This role supports the legal team (including attorneys and paralegals) by handling administrative and legal-clerical tasks to keep the legal department operating smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Manage matters assigned to outside law firms
• Review, process, and manage bankruptcy filings, including filing proofs of claim and notifying management of significant issues
• Prepare legal correspondence
• Open and distribute daily mail
• Process payments received by the legal department
• Assist with skip tracing on legal files
• Answer legal department phone calls and direct them appropriately
• Assist in the preparation and filing of various legal documents and forms
• Establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues
• Meet departmental attendance requirements
• Work effectively under pressure and in stressful situations

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of laws and regulations relevant to the legal department’s functions
• Education or training as an Administrative Assistant
• Preferred experience in a legal office
• Proficiency in MS Office programs
• Detail oriented with the ability to multitask
• Strong English, grammar, math, typing, and computer skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality per organizational policies
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Professional demeanor in daily activities
• Valid driver’s license
