Legal Consultant - GMSLA

Overview

A legal services organization is seeking experienced legal consultants with strong Global Master Securities Lending Agreement (GMSLA) expertise to support Fortune 500 financial services clients.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate GMSLAs and related trading and collateral documentation.
• Provide legal and commercial support to front office and operations teams on securities lending matters.
• Collaborate with risk, compliance, and external counsel to ensure documentation complies with regulatory and internal standards.
• Maintain and update template agreements and playbooks to enhance consistency and efficiency in negotiations.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience in GMSLA negotiation and documentation, either as a qualified or non-qualified negotiator.
• Solid understanding of securities lending and collateral/margin mechanics.
• Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience (PQE) in GMSLA.
• Equivalent experience as a highly experienced GMSLA negotiator may also be considered.
• Clear communication skills and confident negotiation abilities, capable of working effectively with trading and operations teams in a fast-paced environment.
