This organization operates in the medical technology industry, developing new cardiovascular therapies. As it continues to grow beyond its startup phase, it is establishing the legal and contracts infrastructure needed to support expansion and operational stability.
The Legal Operations Manager oversees the contract lifecycle and day-to-day legal operations, serving as the primary liaison with outside counsel. This role helps implement practical systems, maintain accurate records, and support compliance.
Responsibilities
- Manage the contract lifecycle, including intake, drafting, negotiation, approval, execution, and renewal tracking
- Negotiate a range of agreements (within authorized limits), including vendor, consulting, nondisclosure, software, supply, and service contracts
- Coordinate clinical trial agreements, site budgets, and CRO contracts with relevant internal teams and outside counsel
- Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, approval workflows, and signature authority matrices
- Escalate complex or high-risk contract terms to outside counsel with clear summaries and recommendations
- Maintain corporate records, including board minutes, consents, bylaws, and entity documentation
- Prepare board meeting materials and manage quarterly board meeting schedules
- Administer equity documentation and coordinate financing transaction due diligence
- Manage outside counsel relationships, legal spend, and budgeting
- Implement and oversee a scalable contract management system
- Track intellectual property matters with patent counsel
- Coordinate policy records, employment agreements, and regulatory documentation
- Report on contract volume, cycle times, and legal expenditures
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 5 to 8 years of experience in contracts, legal operations, or corporate paralegal roles
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate commercial agreements within defined guidelines
- Knowledge of corporate governance, equity administration, and financing processes
- Strong organizational skills, discretion with confidential information, and clear written communication
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated salary range: $90,000 to $110,000
- Actual compensation based on experience, qualifications, and location
- Compensation may include bonuses, equity, and company-sponsored benefits
