Remote · US Part Time
$195K – $260K/yr

Overview

This role involves contributing as a contract contributor to a 12-week AI training sprint for a legal-focused client. You will use your domain expertise to evaluate, annotate, and improve AI-generated responses related to legal research, contract analysis, and statutory and case law interpretation.

You will also design and build realistic, challenging tasks—complete with scenarios, supporting files, and grading rubrics—to evaluate and improve AI systems.

This is not a traditional legal role: there is no client representation, no billable-hour targets, and no court appearances.

Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate AI-generated responses to legal prompts for accuracy, clarity, and professional appropriateness
  • Annotate and rank model outputs to guide AI training and improvement
  • Write clear, expert-level answers to legal questions to serve as model training examples
  • Flag errors, misconceptions, or ambiguous outputs and provide corrective guidance
  • Propose, design, and build realistic tasks drawn from your professional experience, including:
    • scenario and prompt
    • realistic supporting input files
    • a detailed rubric for grading AI performance
  • Run your tasks against AI models and iterate based on expert reviewer feedback
  • Follow detailed written instructions precisely, including document and upload format requirements
  • Maintain consistent quality and throughput throughout the sprint engagement

Requirements

  • Demonstrated legal experience (litigation, corporate/transactional, compliance, or similar); does not need to be a currently practicing attorney
  • J.D. and bar admission not required, though preferred—practical legal expertise matters more than credentials
  • Strong written communication skills; ability to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely
  • Hands-on practitioner experience at a detailed, individual-contributor level (not solely managerial capacity)
  • Careful reader of written instructions; receptive to feedback and revision cycles
  • Baseline tech literacy, including comfort with:
    • cloud file tools (e.g., Google Workspace)
    • managing browser profiles
    • downloading and installing desktop apps (e.g., Claude)
    • everyday file handling (e.g., converting between Excel and Google Sheets, zipping files for sharing)
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote, self-directed environment
  • Based in the United States
