South Dakota Probate Attorney (Contract and Fully Remote)

Overview

An opportunity is available for an experienced probate and/or trust & estates attorney licensed in South Dakota to work flexible hours remotely. This contract role is ideal for solo practitioners with 5+ years of experience handling probate and administration proceedings, who are knowledgeable about local jurisdictional rules governing the probate process.

Responsibilities

• Handle probate matters and administration proceedings in South Dakota
• Complete probate forms and supplemental court filings, including Inventory and Appraisal, Accounting, and Final Distribution documents
• Ensure compliance with jurisdictional rules and filing requirements

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in South Dakota
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Minimum of 5 years of experience handling probate matters in South Dakota
• Knowledge of appropriate probate forms and filing requirements based on jurisdictional rules
• Excellent academic credentials
• Outstanding professional references

Position Details

• Role Type: Contract/Engagement
• Schedule: Part-time, approximately 5 to 15 hours per month
• Location: Fully remote, must be located in South Dakota

Compensation & Benefits

• Annualized pay ranges from $150,000 to $210,000 on a full-time equivalent basis
• Pay rate is influenced by experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and candidate preference
• Contract professionals are typically W2 employees eligible for benefits when working 20 or more hours per week
• Benefits include Group Life insurance, Long-Term Disability (LTD), Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), a qualified 401(k) plan, CLE and Professional Expense stipends for benefits-eligible attorneys
