South Dakota Probate Attorney (Contract and Fully Remote)

Overview

An opportunity is available for an experienced probate and/or trust & estates attorney to work flexible hours on a contract basis with a modern estate settlement organization. This role is fully remote and offers the ability to maintain the sophistication of a solo practice while working part-time.

Responsibilities

• Handle probate and administration proceedings in South Dakota
• Complete probate forms and supplemental court filings, including Inventory and Appraisal, Accounting, and Final Distribution documents
• Ensure compliance with local and jurisdictional rules governing the probate process

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing to practice law in South Dakota
• Minimum of 5 years of experience handling probate matters in South Dakota
• Knowledge of appropriate forms and filing requirements based on jurisdictional rules
• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school
• Excellent academic credentials
• Outstanding professional references

Position Details

• Role Type: Contract/Engagement
• Schedule: Part-time, approximately 5 to 15 hours per month
• Location: Fully remote

Compensation & Benefits

• Annualized pay ranges from $150,000 to $210,000 on a full-time equivalent basis; actual pay for contract roles depends on experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market factors, and candidate preferences
• Contract professionals are typically W2 employees eligible for full benefits when working 20 or more hours per week
• Benefits include Group Life, Long-Term Disability (LTD), Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), and a qualified 401(k) plan
• Benefits-eligible attorneys receive Continuing Legal Education (CLE) and Professional Expense stipends
