Staff Attorney

Overview

This role is an in-house, remote Staff Attorney position focused on litigating general liability, auto liability, subrogation, and related tort matters.

The position is an ideal fit for an experienced attorney with litigation experience in Illinois; additional experience in Indiana and/or Wisconsin is a plus. The attorney reports to the Assistant Managing Attorney and is expected to independently handle cases from inception through trial.

Responsibilities

• Handle assigned litigation and non-litigated legal work.
• Analyze substantive and procedural legal and factual issues; conduct legal research; independently develop and present defense strategies on behalf of clients.
• Prepare pleadings, depositions, motions, and briefs in support of litigation strategies without supervision, based on level of experience and expertise.
• Provide effective and timely communications, information, legal advice, and other services to clients and claims customers regarding legal and factual issues in a technology-driven environment.
• Independently prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials, judicial and administrative hearings, and alternative dispute resolutions.
• Provide legal opinions to the Managing Attorney, Assistant Managing Attorney, staff, clients, and claims customers.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.
• License to practice in good standing in the State of Illinois.
• Minimum of 3 years of legal experience in Litigation.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Indiana and/or Wisconsin licenses a plus.
• Experience in Indiana and/or Wisconsin is a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annualized base pay range: $118,800 - $178,200
• Base pay may vary and could be above or below the listed range based on factors including performance, proficiency, and demonstration of the competencies required for the role.
• Total compensation may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.

Location

Remote work opportunity. Selected candidate will travel for appearances at assigned venues as needed.
