Underwriting Counsel (New Jersey Remote)

Overview

The organization provides underwriting support and expertise to company personnel, agents, and customers related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies. This role involves utilizing underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite title insurance issuance and provide guidance connected to real estate settlement services.

This position is remote within driving distance of New Jersey and requires occasional local travel for business meetings and events.

Responsibilities

• Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel, agents, and customers related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies.
• Underwrite the issuance of title insurance using underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits.
• Provide guidance to company personnel regarding the performance of real estate settlement services.
• Issue underwriting standards and guidelines in accordance with established company processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Law Degree preferred.
• Licensed to practice law in state within region, in good standing, preferred.
• 5–7 years title underwriting experience.
• Real estate transactional experience.
• Familiarity with real estate law.
• Strong understanding of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of the real estate title and settlement process.
• General knowledge of Federal and State regulations related to real estate title insurance and settlement services.
• General understanding of underwriting real estate transactions for issuance of title insurance policies.
• Ability to collaborate and act decisively.
• Detail oriented.
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills; able to multi-task, prioritize, and follow up in a timely manner.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Ability to think abstractly and develop creative solutions.

Compensation & Benefits

• Pay Range: $97,700.00 - $130,300.00 Annually
