Attorney

Overview

• Pay Rate: $60 per hour
• Work Mode: Remote
• Duration: 6 months with possible extension (reassessed every 60-90 days)

Responsibilities

• Develop and revise legal strategies for discovery, investigation, handling, and trial/hearing of cases using Litigation Protocols.
• Conduct discovery, hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and similar proceedings as necessary.
• Research applicable law; draft legal documents including pleadings, motions, briefs, and opinions.
• Conduct settlement negotiations when requested.
• Advise and communicate clearly with Claims Representatives and Insured Clients, providing unambiguous legal opinions and advice.
• Maintain effective relations and communication with Claims Representatives and Insured Clients.
• Stay current with legal developments and understand relevant medical, scientific, construction, products, engineering, or similar issues and defenses.
• Utilize technology creatively to improve legal processes, quality, and cost efficiency.
• Serve as a team or group leader within the office.
• Interface with the Home Office Legal department.

Requirements

• Must reside in California and hold a valid California law license.
• Completion of law school with an LLB or JD degree and admission to the bar.
• Minimum of 1 year of successful experience as an attorney.
• General knowledge of insurance law and understanding of insured clients' operations and requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication and persuasion skills.
• Experience and ability appropriate to the level of cases or matters handled.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong technical skills.
• Strong knowledge of Workers' Compensation (WC).
