Overview

A law firm is seeking a Conflicts Attorney responsible for conducting conflicts of interest searches related to new clients, employees, matters, and submissions across multiple offices. This role is integral to the firm's new business intake and hiring processes and requires working in a fast-paced environment with time-sensitive materials while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000, dependent on location and experience level.

Responsibilities

  • Perform conflicts of interest searches and due diligence checks for incoming attorneys, staff, clients, and matters.
  • Analyze, review, and approve conflicts reports, identifying potential areas of concern.
  • Manage client and matter intake data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Identify misinformation and adjust search parameters to produce accurate results.
  • Collaborate with the Risk and Information Governance team to document and store processes appropriately.
  • Provide insights and suggestions for process improvements and stay updated on industry trends related to conflict of interest procedures.
  • Manage efforts to resolve conflicts and communicate resolutions with firm attorneys.
  • Draft and review waiver and engagement letters as directed by attorneys.
  • Develop screens to prevent access to conflicting client and matter data by inappropriate individuals.
  • Liaise with attorneys to identify business conflicts and take necessary steps to document and resolve them.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) and active license to practice law in the United States.
  • Minimum of two years' experience as a Conflicts Attorney or equivalent legal practice experience.
  • Strong understanding of risk management and legal relationships.
  • Ability to independently identify and resolve conflicts of interest.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong research, problem-solving, and data analysis abilities.
  • Ability to manage complex legal information, document processes, and propose solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with internal and external clients at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism.
  • Availability to work remotely and after hours as needed, with the ability to produce results quickly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, with adaptability to new software.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties.

Additional Information

  • This position requires extensive use of computer and telephone equipment, as well as printing, copying, faxing, and scanning devices.
  • Physical requirements include occasional sitting, standing, talking, seeing, and hearing.
