Senior Specialist Legal Editor, Commercial & Law Department

Overview

A Senior Specialist Legal Editor position is available to develop commercial legal and compliance content for law firm and law department subscribers. This role involves creating and editing legal resources such as standard form documents, practice guidance notes, and checklists for an online legal service platform. The editor will also contribute to editorial development projects, including global and AI initiatives, and maintain relationships with external law firm contributors.

Responsibilities

• Develop commercial legal and compliance content of national and global significance for online publication.
• Write and edit legal resources in accordance with established writing style guidelines.
• Assist in editorial development of products, including global and AI-related projects.
• Establish and maintain relationships with external law firm contributors.
• Write and edit content for a companion legal journal.
• Stay informed on current developments and legal issues related to commercial contracting and practice to update existing content and develop new materials.
• Build relationships with lawyers in private practice, in-house counsel, and legal professional groups to ensure content relevance.
• Support AI initiatives, including training AI for product use and validating model performance.
• Support product development, sales, and marketing teams as needed.
• Conduct sales demonstrations and webinars on relevant topics.
• Respond to subscriber inquiries regarding legal resources.

Requirements

• Minimum of eight years' experience as a lawyer in a law firm or as in-house counsel.
• Understanding of the needs and priorities of law firm attorneys and in-house counsel.
• Expertise in various commercial transactional and regulatory matters, including one or more of the following:
  • General contract principles and boilerplate, including purchase, sale, and supply of goods and services.
  • Government contracting.
  • Multi-state consumer regulatory issues and compliance.
  • Manufacturing and supply chain compliance.
  • Franchise.
  • Distribution, logistics, warehousing, and reseller transactions.
  • E-commerce transactions.
  • Consulting, sales representative, and professional services arrangements.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Excellent writing skills with attention to detail, strong command of grammar and punctuation, and ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and simply.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with team members.
• Flexibility to work on tasks beyond writing legal resources.

Note: Candidates selected for a second interview will be required to submit a writing sample.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting AI initiatives and product development.
• Ability to conduct sales demonstrations and webinars.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range for eligible U.S. locations: $119,700 USD - $222,300 USD, positioned based on knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
