Overview
The organization is seeking an experienced Tax Attorney to join the Tax practice group as a Junior Partner.
This role offers remote optional work and is open to qualified candidates located across the United States.
Responsibilities
- Conduct tax research with a heavy emphasis.
- Maintain regular client contact and manage tax projects.
- Design and structure transactions to achieve income, gift, estate, GST, and state and local tax outcomes.
- Compose formal and informal client communications to help clients understand complex tax matters.
- Draft IRS Circular 230-compliant tax opinions.
- Supervise and train younger and less experienced staff.
- Write short-form and long-form articles, compile materials for presentations, and participate in marketing efforts for the tax practice.
Requirements
- At least seven years of experience at a law firm or accounting firm performing income tax work, including some experience in a combination of:
- Real estate taxation (Section 1031 exchanges especially)
- Taxation of trusts/estates
- Taxation of pass-thru entities
- Familiarity with all aspects of Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (mastery preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Authorship of an IRS Circular 230-compliant tax opinion.
- Demonstrable history of direct client contact, project management, or supervision and training of younger staff.
- Master of Laws in Taxation from NYU, Georgetown, Boston U., or Miami.
- Dual-licensed attorney/CPAs.
- Experience performing employee benefits taxation work.
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Qualified Opportunity Zones
- Fiduciary income tax
- Cross-border corporate tax
- Taxation of bankruptcy
- Taxation of mergers and acquisitions
- Experience with Clio.
- Fluency in any language other than English.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated annual salary range: $250,000 - $400,000
