Overview
A legal services organization is seeking a Lateral Conflicts Attorney to provide support across all levels of personnel within the firm and its US region. This remote position involves reviewing and analyzing conflicts information related to lateral candidates firmwide.
Responsibilities
- Review and provide thorough, timely analysis of conflicts information submitted by lateral candidates.
- Identify potential conflict issues and propose conflict resolutions.
- Utilize internal and external databases to review and analyze conflicts of interest reports concerning prospective incoming laterals.
- Facilitate resolution of potential conflicts related to incoming portable work identified by lateral candidates.
- Advise on necessary waivers and assist in drafting waivers, engagement letters, or other documentation for partner review.
- Proactively communicate with department leadership on complex conflicts questions and compliance issues.
- Maintain accurate and current records of all conflicts resolutions to ensure database integrity and assist in identifying and clearing future conflicts.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet position requirements.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and licensed to practice law.
- Minimum of 3 years of legal experience.
- Prior experience working with law firms or corporate legal departments.
- Experience with conflicts analysis is strongly preferred but not required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work productively with personnel at all levels.
- Excellent client-facing skills.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Methodical work approach with focus on accuracy, attention to detail, consistency, and quality.
- Ability to negotiate and influence colleagues to achieve successful outcomes.
- Strong legal research skills and ability to stay current with ethics and conflicts best practices and rules across relevant jurisdictions.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, prioritize tasks, and ensure follow-through.
- Demonstrated judgment consistent with standards, policies, procedures, regulations, or laws to resolve problems effectively.
- Knowledge of Intapp conflict checking, ethical wall, and business intake software is a plus.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $120,000 - $150,000, based on experience and local market, in accordance with state laws.
