Overview
A leader in the Enterprise Technology sector is seeking a Manager of Legal Engineering to join their team. This role focuses on the intersection of data, AI-enabled capabilities, and scalable technology delivery. The position involves collaborating across engineering, product, operations, and business teams to translate complex requirements into practical technology solutions. The role offers the opportunity to influence architecture, execution quality, and technology capabilities that support long-term growth in a technology-driven environment.
Location: Remote (US-based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation: $190,000 – $210,000 annually
Responsibilities
- Own the structuring of legal knowledge within the organization
- Build and manage evaluation harnesses for legal AI products
- Develop and validate legal skill strategies for AI agents
- Create coherent legal taxonomies and semantic layers
- Lead and hire a team of legal engineers while maintaining a hands-on role
- Collaborate with R&D teams, acting as the legal authority for product decisions
- Anticipate questions from legal professionals and ensure products can address them
Qualifications
- Law degree with 1-3 years of practice experience in a legal setting
- Experience in legal technology, knowledge management, or legal data
- Familiarity with modern AI development tools and practices
- Methodical and rigorous approach to structured thinking and taxonomy
- Understanding of legal processes related to litigation and transactional matters
- Ability to thrive as a leader in a high-autonomy work environment
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with Legal Context Graph, Claude Code, GitHub, and evaluation harnesses
- Knowledge of practice-area ontologies, FOLIO, and AI knowledge management tools
- Familiarity with document analysis tools, legal research software, and project management tools
- Understanding of Natural Language Processing (NLP), machine learning frameworks, data structures, and semantic web technologies
- Proficiency with team collaboration software
