Overview

A temporary, full-time Senior Workers' Compensation Attorney position is available, fully remote within California. The role requires residency in California, with preference for candidates located in the Los Angeles area. The position involves handling complex Workers’ Compensation cases, including life pension matters, and occasional remote appearances before California Workers' Compensation Boards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze complex legal and factual issues and conduct thorough legal research
  • Develop and present defense strategies independently
  • Prepare complex pleadings, written discovery, depositions, petitions for reconsideration, and trial briefs
  • Collaborate with Claims Partners to achieve optimal outcomes for insured clients
  • Provide timely legal advice and communication to clients
  • Communicate professionally with courts, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel
  • Facilitate efficient case disposition
  • Prepare and present witnesses and evidence at trials or hearings
  • Research, draft, file, and argue appellate briefs

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in the state of California
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience handling complex/life pension Workers’ Compensation cases
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills
  • Self-directed with ability to quickly learn new software
  • Positive, collaborative team-player attitude

Preferred Qualifications

  • Trial experience
  • Experience with Lexis Nexis

Compensation & Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $98.00 to $110.00
  • Estimated contract duration: 7 months

Location

  • Remote within California (must reside in California)
  • Preference for candidates in the Los Angeles area
  • Work hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST
